2006年第一次遠赴日本參加Taste Of Chaos, 信誓旦旦的在會場外悠閒喝著生啤酒想說會有當地日本樂團暖場慢慢的往會場移動, 不料 “It's Far Better To Learn” 的前奏就硬生生的放了一分多鐘馬上為之瘋狂的我啤酒直接不要的往前衝, 旁邊的朋友還整個摸不著頭緒的問：誰阿誰阿？？ 已經沒有什麼耐心再解釋什麼的我轉頭就說：X！SAOSIN啦！！！ 就這樣接著和同名專輯的下首歌一樣”Sleepers”那個時候真的什麼都可以不用管啦！在回憶的同時也開始期待台北演唱會的開場, 是不是也是 “It's Far Better To Learn" ………

倒數九天：《 SAOSIN》同名專輯介紹

大合唱歌詞一定要背熟（一）

《Saosin》整張專輯聽下來， 在許多美式Hardcore節奏的快歌中，穿插了幾首較為緩慢的苦情歌，不僅緩和了緊張的氣氛，也突顯了主唱Cove Reber的美聲，同時也使整體顯得更為流暢。

其中"Voices" 則是一種近似悲憐的口吻，來表達自我與人群間的迷失。

"Bury Your Head" 這首曾在2005年收錄EP發行，也是相當具有SAOSIN獨特風格的一首。而在專輯裡延續下一首"Some Sense Of Security" 作為結尾的相當的有氣勢，放在最後一首，讓人對整張專輯意猶未盡。

倒數十天：你不知道的SAOSIN / 小心的愛

為什麼用SAOSIN作為團名？又有什麼含意？

“小心”這個字源自於15世紀中國的諺語, 當時的父親提醒他們的兒子們要小心那些只因經濟因素且無任何感情而嫁來的女人們。
他解釋這個這個自後面的意涵是沒有任何事是永恆的, 而對於任何一件事物過度的依戀都是個很大的錯誤, 因為最終它還是會消逝. 它對於小心的闡釋是非常負面晦澀的。
為樂團取名的前任主唱Anthony Green「Saosin」是來自中文的「small heart」也就是「小心」，但是在他的理解裡，這是「小心的愛」（love cautiously）的意思。

前後主唱各具特色 不分軒輊

第一次聽到Saosin的歌，是由前任主唱Anthony Green所演唱，收錄在第一張EP《Translating the Name》中的一首〈Seven Years〉。之所以會立刻被吸引住，就是因為Anthony的嗓音，不但有寬廣的音域，高音域的音色很棒，也擁有很強的爆發力，美聲和接近嘶吼的高音都能勝任。其他團員的表現也相當不凡，豐富多變的鼓點，狂而不亂的吉他，加上配合的恰到好處的貝斯，還有吉他手emo式的嘶吼合音，組合出〈Seven Years〉這一首值得一聽再聽的好歌。
單曲的表現如此不凡，當然專輯也一定有相當的水準。雖然歷經了成員大換血，主唱、鼓手及貝斯手都經過替換，Saosin仍然有著在《Translating the Name》時的實力。現任主唱Cove Reber的歌聲其實和前任主唱Anthony Green有著相當程度的類似，在高音都有極佳的表現，不分軒輊。聽到Reber的聲音，給人的第一個印象就是「乾淨」，尤其是在高音域的部分，有時甚至還會有女聲的錯覺。雖然少了一點Green的爆發力，但是卻多了一份純淨的美聲。不知道是不是因為音樂後製的關係，或者音源品質的不同造成的差異，不過前後兩任主唱的表現，都是令人激賞的。其中一首〈Dear Child (I’ve been dying to reach you)〉兩位主唱的演出更是令人一再回味。

P：樂隊發行了最新專輯《In Search of Solid Ground》，在這張作品中你們嘗試了怎樣的音響與製作方式？

S：我們想製作一張比上張專輯在內容上更有深度的作品。並不想複製從前那些重複的段落。我們想在氛圍與力度上有所突破，讓作品擁有更加情緒化的感受。我們在歌曲中所唱的是一些有關我們親身經歷的故事，以及有關樂隊成長的經歷。

P：這張作品一共是由三位製作人進行錄製？

S：是的，我們首先完成了5首歌曲的錄製，之後將這5首作品拿給Butch Wakler進行製作，John Feldmann製作了之後的兩首作品，而由Logan Madder製作的是我們的單曲“Changing”。

P：你們是如何計畫與三位不同的製作人進行合作的？比如John Feldman和Butch Walker等等。

S：我們並沒有計畫，但是我們真的是親自在工作室中參與了每一首歌的製作過程，更不用說我們的吉他手Beau Burchell了，他負責了樂隊作品的混音。畢竟他知道樂隊每一首歌曲所想要達到的效果。

P：在樂隊最新發行的作品中，你們重新錄製了三首EP當中的歌曲。為什麼決定要重新錄製這些歌？

S：我們總是喜歡將我們所創作的新歌製成小樣唱片。這是《Grey EP》中的3首歌，其中兩首作品並沒有太大的變化，但我們對那首“I keep my secrets safe”做了很大的改變。我們同樣也在最近的唱片《Black EP》當中這樣做了。

P：是誰設計了專輯的封面？

S：那是由兩位與我們非常要好的名叫Sean ‘Mosher’ Smith與Sean Steigmier的設計師設計的。這幅作品在唱片發行最後期限的前兩天還存在著爭議，但最終我們從原始素材中選擇了看上去比較複雜的效果。

P：樂隊中的兩位成員都曾經在伯克利音樂學院學習過，你們的專業是什麼？

S：我們學習的專業很多，從音樂理論，到音樂經濟學，再到電影原聲製作等等。其實Justin和我在這之前都沒有真正接受過科班的音樂訓練，因此我們希望學到更多從前所不瞭解的知識，並且也能夠將這些知識運用到我們的樂隊生涯當中。

P：不論在演出還是在空閒的時間，你們每天都要登錄自己的Twitter，通過互聯網與樂迷交流對你們來講有多重要？

S：這非常重要，我們非常喜歡與樂迷進行直接交流。我們不喜歡假裝成有多麼的與眾不同。我們非常重視樂迷，對於我們來講這要比我們的私人生活更重要。我們就像樂迷尊重我們一樣的尊重他們。他們瞭解我們在舞臺上所作的一切，並與我們進行互動交流，這就是我們想要的。但在表演過後，一切對於我們來講都是普普通通的生活。Twitter正是一種讓我們更輕鬆與樂迷交流的方式。

P：在與CAPITOL公司簽約之前，樂隊在地下音樂圈有很強大基礎，你們曾經發行過一張EP並參加過非常多的現場表演。你們是否擔心在與主流廠牌簽約之後會迫使你們向商業進行妥協？

S：不，我們來到這家廠牌並感覺到這正是那個能夠完成我們所有願望的地方。我們對高品質錄音和高品質的音樂電視非常著迷。有時候，當你與一家小公司簽約之後，機會並不會總出現在那裏。CAPITOL是一家擁有實力去創造與眾不同音樂的公司。並且他們還為我們制定了非常好的計畫。

P：讓我們談談你們的歌曲“You’re not alone”，對於這首作品有很多不同的解釋，但總之是告訴人們如何去面對個人的生活。你們有沒有收到過樂迷從這首歌中得到幫助的回饋？

S：是的，很多人都和我們談論過這首歌。這是一首非常簡單的歌，但它其中的意義卻非常深刻。對於Cove而言，他認為這是寫給他自己和像他那類人的一封信。有些時候，我們在做某事的時候總是感覺非常孤單的。

P：你認為哪些樂隊是被音樂圈所低估的？你最近在聽哪些樂隊的作品？

S：我聽一支瑞典樂隊叫做“Jeniferever”。我認為在那裏有很多被低估的具有實力的樂隊。但有時候，這也會讓那些樂隊更加倍的努力。在我記憶裏小時候所喜歡的樂隊當中，並沒有哪支樂隊讓我一聽到就有種“哇噢！”的感覺，他們大多都很糟糕。

P：實際上樂隊名字的翻譯真的讓很多人感到頭疼，關於樂隊的名字你們有沒有經歷過什麼有趣故事？

S：我們並沒有瘋，我們應該對這個名字進行解釋。這是一個中文單詞，它的發音就像它的拼寫那樣，它實際上並不是一個英語單詞。有一次我們在英國演出，主辦單位在宣傳單上將我們的名字寫成了“FAOFIN”，這簡直太有趣了。

P：最後有什麼要對樂迷們講的？

S：謝謝所有台灣歌迷給我們的支持，能夠讓我們到如此美麗的國家去演出。能夠到台灣演出一直是我們的夢想，我們期待在台灣學習到“SAOSIN”(“小心”)的真正含義。
